“Art is the Lie” is an awesome book! I couldn’t put it down and read it in two days! It is very well written and descriptive. I feel like I know the characters and that I am right there with them, seeing what they see and feeling what they feel. CeeCee Vanderbie is a girl who thought she knew who she was. She has had some hard times (like losing her mom) but nothing can prepare her for what happens. I don’t want to give anything away but I do want to say that her visions aren’t fantasy or somethi “Art is the Lie” is an awesome book! I couldn’t put it down and read it in two days! I don’t want to give anything away but I do want to say that her visions aren’t fantasy or something so unbelievable that it distracts you while you are reading--I love how it is believable--it’s fiction but not so out there that you can’t help but believe it while you are reading it. I see that it says “Volume 1” and for that I am happy! It is a great book on its own but it definitely sets the scene for future books. And I cannot wait until the next book comes out! I highly recommend this book to anyone--it isn’t like some of the YA books that some people like and others don’t because of too much focus on a love story, violence, etc., I think this is a great story that will appeal to anyone who likes an exciting book that doesn’t have a dull moment and keeps you reading because you have to know what happens next!

When Cee Cee’s visions of fire and destruction are triggered at the Seattle Art Museum, everything about her life changes. A grandmother she’s never met, a mysterious (and hot) guy named Quentin—they both become pieces of the puzzle she has to solve. Add this to the complications of going to high school while dealing with a father who is blind, and who seems to want to obscure his family history from Cee Cee, and she has almost too much to deal with. Thank goodness she has her art. Her paintings When Cee Cee’s visions of fire and destruction are triggered at the Seattle Art Museum, everything about her life changes. Populated by vibrant characters and brooding settings, “Art is the Lie” will grab you from the opening chapter and make you want to keep reading even after the story ends.

I just finished Courtney’s book, Art is the Lie, and loved it. I couldn’t put it down. From Chapter One, she hooked me right into the story of CeeCee and her family’s tradition of visions. Just enough paranormal to keep me turning pages, but not so much that it overpowered the book. Creative in how she spun the visions throughout to create foreshadowing while still telling a very relatable adolescent story filled with angst, parent-conflict, romance or lack-thereof, friendships and the journey o I just finished Courtney’s book, Art is the Lie, and loved it. I'm normally not one for paranormal stories, but the first chapter of this book hooked me and kept me reading until the very end. Courtney does a wonderful job of creating characters you care about and want to know better. If I had been blessed with more free time, I would have sat down and read this book straight through. I am looking forward to reading more things by Courtney Cook Hopp.

I thought it would be more action but it's fine I mean you are a little tiny bit intrigued about what the hell is happening. It's a fine book if you are getting started in the paranormal stuff I think...
