Good thing for book groups and hearing others' thoughts. it did enrich this book for me. But without being drawn in by the stream of consciousness, I tended to daydream and therefore didn't get much out of this book.

Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway describes exactly one day in the life of a British socialite named Clarissa Dalloway. Using a combination of a third-person narration and the thoughts of various characters, the novel uses a stream-of-consciousness style all the way through. The result of this style is a deeply personal and revealing look into the characters’ minds, with the novel relying heavily on character rather than plot to tell its story. Read this as a book club book - have previously been suspicious of the miserable Mrs Woolf but I fell into the stream of consciousness writing and started to enjoy reading the words - if frustrated by the lack of chapters. This one party day in the life of a rich lady has some beautiful as well as intriguing images and dares to challenge the medical profession for its lack of sympathy with mental illness - the suicide of a young survivor of WWI perhaps foretelling the demise of the author hersel Read this as a book club book - have previously been suspicious of the miserable Mrs Woolf but I fell into the stream of consciousness writing and started to enjoy reading the words - if frustrated by the lack of chapters.
