I enjoyed this book. It had kind of a The Lord of the Rings vibe along with some biblical undertones. But, unlike TLOTR and its ilk, it had a female protagonist and several female lead characters. One doesn't always see that in fantasy and adventure books (or the bible, for that matter) so it was refreshing and much appreciated. As this was a debut by this author, I hate to pan the writing, but it did need some work. The book would not have been too long at double the size had the author fleshed I enjoyed this book. Sometimes it felt more like a plot outline with a bit of description rather than a finished product. Still, it was an interesting story and enjoyable read. My thanks to Goodreads and the author for providing me this copy.

http://maggieawesomebooks.blogspot.pt My expectations for this book were very high. The synopsis promise us a very cool young adult story. What I most liked about this book was the story itself. The idea is so original and fun... it reminds me a lot of Narnia stories, which is always a good complement. The truth is, you never know what to expect, and that’s awesome. We all love stories where things are unpredictable, and that happens a lot in this book. The truth is, you never know what to expect, and that’s awesome. We all love stories where things are unpredictable, and that happens a lot in this book. I started it thinking that something was going to happen, but the next moment something changes. In my opinion, I wanted more of this cute romance happening between Henry and Lilly, but that ended quickly. Suddenly we enter a world of magic and fairy tales. This world was kind of confusing to me, but it works well for people who loves this genre. I didn’t connect that much with the characters. I think they should have more stories attach to themselves. Lilly for example is our main character but she doesn’t show that much herself. It’s like she’s living in a bubble of shyness and stiffness. But maybe I was the only one thinking that way… Henry on the other hand, is an amazing character. He has all the characteristics that make a reader fall in love with. He’s charming, brave, a little bold… but he suddenly disappears from the story and I got stressed out, not knowing what happened with him and some other characters. I wanted this book to have two sides. It should have the side of Lilly and the world she enters, and the side of her family and Henry. Too many questions assault us when we are reading from the moment Lilly disappears. But if some of you read this book, I want to know your opinion. This is only my thoughts about it, and yours may be completely different from mine. The end was great! I really loved it. It was very unpredictable and shocking. My best thanks to the author that was really kind to me and I sorely want to read more of her books :)

A charming fantasy romance resembling an adventure fairy tale as we follow the journey of Lily as she discovers a new world and the role she plays to save it. An enjoyable story for any lover of the genre. I am keen to read the sequel in the story and discover what adventures Lily finds herself on next.

I won a copy of this on goodreads, I was so chuffed as I knew this was going to be up my alley. The author kindly sent this to me from the u.s to the u.k (not cheap to do) also gave me her contact details. I will definitely be dropping her an email to say if there is to be a 2nd book as this ticks all the boxes for a good, light hearted, fairytale inspired young adult fantasy. There is also lots of mystery and intrigue, an amazing love triangle and character building. I was in a bit of a reading slump as ive nearly read 150 books this year and I wanted to catch up on all my TV ive been missing, but I found myself wanting to keep reading with this story, so my TV is back in hold. Anybook that can do that is a 5 star read for me. I dont want to say much more as it is only a short read, but fans of alice in wonderland, fairytale retellings etc will love this.

I honestly believe the idea behind the story is fantastic!!! In the beginning it was difficult to get into, but when I got used to the writing style it got a bit better. I was a little confused at first because it started out like the story was happening as I read, but then all of a sudden it was the main characters recollection. I was a little confused at first because it started out like the story was happening as I read, but then all of a sudden it was the main characters recollection. Unfortunately I didn't really connect with the characters...It was more the author telling me how the characters are rather than describing their actions/personalities...For example when Maelec was growing on Lily...how so? What was he doing? What was he saying? The same with both relationships with Calev and Henry...I want to read every little feeling, action, and thought as these characters are falling in love. Their relationships didn't have that so I wasn't able to fall in love too *tear*. I felt I wasn't able to see the character growth in Lily. She went from weak and not knowing what to do and who she was, to all of a sudden bad ass leading this army. The plot line needed more fluidity. I felt more like I was reading the author's outline as the story progressed. They walked here, did a thing, went here did a thing. The description of places and clothing were good, so I could visualize the places...but it felt more like I was on the outside looking in rather than in the story myself. I definitely feel the ending part was a good cliff hanger, so I will read the second book. I loved the idea behind this story and hope I enjoy the second book more than the first!

I got this book as a giveaway from Goodreads. The author sent it to me which was awesome. With her own writing saying thanks and whatnot. When reading at first I just couldnt get into it. I don't read too much fantasy books. But by the end I did enjoy it. I would love to read another book from this author in the future. If you like fantasy and a story of a girls life that was chosen for her. You will enjoy this

I won this book as part of a Goodreads Giveaway. Definitely a Young adult read. However there are problems with the way the narrative is constructed. It reads like a recount. The storytelling is a tell not a show. As a reader I did not connect with any of the characters. There was no real tighening of tension. The premise of the story is interesting.
